How Long Is The Process For Air Traffic Control?

My husband applied for ATC this past Summer. He just received word that he had been selected for the initial test in Atlanta. He goes in Oct. If he passes, does anyone know how long the process is from that point to getting your schooling date to OKC? How Long Is The Process For Air Traffic Control?
It could technically happen in about 6 months, but to be safe I'd count on more like a year to a year and a half. If he doesn't get a good score though it might be longer or even not at all.

The thing to keep in mind is that after this test, every couple of months the head people for a state get together with a list of how many new people they need. They haggle over the pool of people who have selected their state. The better scores and more experience the more likely you are get snapped up, but if you don't make that cut you go right back to the pool. This process can understandably take some time.

Even if/after he gets picked he'll undergo a battery of phychological and medical testing, interview and security clearance checks that take more time. From there its a matter of finding an open slot in OKC. This is normally a slot a few months after everything is processed and cleared.
