Does anybody know anything about statistical process control?

I am writing an assignment, I have to critically analyse statistical process control in relation to total quality management! HelpDoes anybody know anything about statistical process control?
Statistical process control refers to QA at every single stage of the production process; usually a sample of products is taken at the end of each one in order to compare it to the expected output. Total quality management is wider, it refers to the whole structure of the company (industry) in order to achieve an specific output. The idea is to compare level of production against targets.
